  • Notification of 2008 Dues & Per Capita Increases

  • IRS announces pension plan limitations for 2008. The limitation for defined contribution plans under Section 415(c)(1)(A) is increased from $45,000 to $46,000. The limitation under Section 402(g)(1) on the exclusion for elective deferrals described in Section 402(g)(3) remains unchanged at $15,500. Age 50 catch-up limit for age 50 and older remains unchanged at $5,000.

  • The Social Security Wage Base limit for 2008 is $102,000. There is no wage base limit for Medicare tax. The tax rate remains 6.20% for social security and 1.45% for Medicare tax.

  • The standard Medicare Part B standard monthly premium will be $96.40 in 2008, an increase of $5.00 or 5.6 percent from the current $88.50 Part B premium. In 2008, if you file your taxes as "married, filing jointly" and your MAGI (modified adjusted gross income) is more than $164,000, you will pay a higher Part B premium. For all other taxpayer filing statuses, if your MAGI is more than $82,000, you will pay a higher Part B premium.  Go to the following site for more information:

  • LM-30 Requirements including the new Deminimus Advisory for filing.  This is the responsibility of the individual, not the local.  Due 90 days after the employees fiscal tax year, not the Locals fiscal tax year.  Visit this site for filing extensions and the new deminimus changes.  The filing requirements for 2007 are March 28, 2008 for those individuals who have a tax year end of December 31, 2007.
